Account Executive, Food & Beverage

Berk Communications, recently named a finalist for 2020 Outstanding Small Agency of the Year by PRWeek, has an exciting opportunity for an Account Executive in our growing food & beverage practice. We are seeking someone with relevant agency experience across the food & beverage category including consumer brands, restaurants and liquor brands. This role will require creative ideation, attention to detail, great writing skills and a proven track record of generating consistent and high-impact earned media coverage in both traditional and non-traditional media outlets.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Proactive media relations – pitching traditional and online media, developing relationships and uncovering new outlets  

  • Drafting press materials 

  • Creating and updating media reports  

  • Maintaining updated grids with deadlines  

  • Staying current with new media trends and incorporating as appropriate 

  • Serve as a key day-to-day client contact 

  • Manage multiple projects from concept to completion on time and within budget 

  • Proactively generate new ideas and opportunities to ensure client program success 

  • Maintain relationships with media and secure pro-active publicity for clients 

  • Manage development of press materials 

  • Moderate media interviews; assist with media training for clients; initiate implementation of media events such as press conferences, briefings and media tours 

  • Instruct entry-level staff in the areas of media relations and writing/document creation 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 2-4 years of public relations experience (agency experience preferred) 

  • Strong media relations skills and established network of contacts 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Can work independently and within a team

Account Executive - Music, Entertainment, & Social Justice

We have an exciting opportunity for an Account Executive to join our growing music, entertainment and social justice department. We are seeking someone who has experience working with musicians and record labels, with the proven ability to keep deliverables moving while generating media relations results. An interest in social justice is a bonus, given the intersection of music and activism. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support musicians and artists through full album campaigns, tours, video and song releases and more, helping to drive media relations strategy and deliver results that help move our clients’ careers forward. You’ll play a critical role in supporting our music and entertainment team by ensuring excellence in delivery, clear communication, and high-quality deliverables. This is an opportunity to hone your account management skills while staying attuned to the needs of clients in a dynamic and rapidly evolving industry. 

 

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Flawless execution of proactive and reactive earned media relations work, including developing media lists, coverage reports, media audits, well-crafted pitches and strategic media recommendations 

  • Play a key role in planning and implementing account activities, including media relations, events, program implementation, reporting, etc. 

  • Develop press materials including press releases, pitches, reports and client correspondence 

  • Proactively provide quality assurance for all clients’ deliverables (I.E. proofreading, fact-checking, research, etc)  

  • Assist in moving projects forward with a proven ability to manage deliverables and deadlines

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • 2-3 years of experience in a public relations agency or similar position

Account Director - Sports and Entertainment

We have an exciting opportunity for an Account Director in our sports practice. You will be completely dedicated to one of our largest accounts, a prominent sports and entertainment agency, where you will be involved in every detail of its business. You will have the opportunity to dive deep into this company serving as a member of their team and going into their offices two to three days a week. This role will require delivering executive-level PR strategies and consistent high-impact media coverage for executives and sports talent. In addition to being a well-connected media relations executive with a proven track record in talent publicity, the ideal candidate should have superior client service acumen, experience in managing account teams and budgets. 

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Serve as day-to-day account lead and senior counselor to our client joining them in their office 

  • Manage overall quality of account staff work and client satisfaction levels

  • Secure profiles and feature coverage for executives and sports talent

  • Flawless execution of earned media relations work, including developing media lists, reporter briefing sheets, media audits, well-crafted pitches and strategic media recommendations that integrate paid, earned, social and owned media

  • Lead local, regional, trade and select national business and consumer media outreach

  • Oversee all aspects of the account and makes sure the teams stay on deadline with quality client deliverables 

  • Bring information, experience and industry intelligence to the agency

  • Develop comprehensive executive eminence programs

  • Help supervise and mentor junior staff by motivating, coaching and consistently providing feedback

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Require 8+ years serving in a full-time role either in a public relations agency or the communications department of a company in a relevant industry

  • Proven ability to secure feature coverage for executives and athletes

  • Experience managing staff 

  • Excellent process and organizational skills; attention to detail a must as this primary focus is staying ahead of client and keeping the team focused on meeting deliverables

  • Quality control for junior staff work product

  • Track record of meeting deadlines with a multi-client workload

You will be completely dedicated to one of our largest accounts, a prominent sports and entertainment agency, where you will be asked to pitch key feature stories for sports talent and executives. In this role, you will show your ability to secure impactful stories for our client while also having the opportunity to manage day-to-day projects on this account. In addition to being a well-connected media relations executive with a proven track record in personal publicity, the ideal candidate should have client service experience, a keen eye for detail and the organizational skills to keep multiple projects moving forward. 

 

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Demonstrate tactical and strategic knowledge of communications plans for the sports industry 

  • Flawless execution of proactive and reactive earned media relations work, including developing media lists, media briefing documents, media audits, well-crafted pitches and strategic media recommendations 

  • Maintain regular client contact across the account

  • Writes and/or edits materials with a keen eye, providing a near-final copy for review to senior team members  

  • Support the execution of large-scale events, celebrity media days, charitable partnerships and national campaign launches 

  • Apply key client information, including general business strategy, industry trends and issues, customers and competitors to provide ongoing strategic counsel to both internal team members as well as client partners  

 

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • 2-5 years of experience in a public relations agency or similar position  

  • Proven ability to manage client projects with senior and junior team members while serving as a point of contact for clients 

  • Track record of generating earned media that drives business impact for clients 

  • Demonstrated ability to help develop communication programming and plans, implement integrated tactics and impart knowledge to junior account team members 

  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a team-first attitude   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field preferred
