Berk Communications, recently named a finalist for 2020 Outstanding Small Agency of the Year by PRWeek, has an exciting opportunity for an Account Executive in our growing food & beverage practice. We are seeking someone with relevant agency experience across the food & beverage category including consumer brands, restaurants and liquor brands. This role will require creative ideation, attention to detail, great writing skills and a proven track record of generating consistent and high-impact earned media coverage in both traditional and non-traditional media outlets.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Proactive media relations – pitching traditional and online media, developing relationships and uncovering new outlets  

  • Drafting press materials 

  • Creating and updating media reports  

  • Maintaining updated grids with deadlines  

  • Staying current with new media trends and incorporating as appropriate 

  • Serve as a key day-to-day client contact 

  • Manage multiple projects from concept to completion on time and within budget 

  • Proactively generate new ideas and opportunities to ensure client program success 

  • Maintain relationships with media and secure pro-active publicity for clients 

  • Manage development of press materials 

  • Moderate media interviews; assist with media training for clients; initiate implementation of media events such as press conferences, briefings and media tours 

  • Instruct entry-level staff in the areas of media relations and writing/document creation 


Education and Experience Requirements

  • 2-4 years of public relations experience (agency experience preferred) 

  • Strong media relations skills and established network of contacts 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Senior Account Executive, Sports & Lifestyle

You’ll play a critical role in driving our sports accounts forward and be expected to be able to manage multiple projects serving as a lynchpin between senior team members and junior team members. Primary Responsibilities 

  • Demonstrate tactical and strategic knowledge of communications plans for the sports industry

As a senior counsel, we are seeking someone with agency experience in travel, tourism, restaurant and lifestyle services. This role will require delivering executive-level PR strategies, creative ideation and consistent press coverage. In addition to being an excellent writer and a well-connected media relations executive, the ideal candidate should have superior client service acumen, experience in managing account teams and budgets as well as have proven skills with regards to new business pursuits.

Account Coordinator, Food & Beverage

We have an exciting opportunity for an Account Coordinator with 1-2 years experience, in our food, beverage and travel practice. Account Coordinators are an integral part of the account team and are responsible for scheduling, processing, and trafficking of various public relations activities.  Account Coordinators are also responsible for managing and implementing projects on behalf of assigned clients. The candidate should have an interest in the category and a true entrepreneurial spirit.  

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Serves as liaison between clients and agency departments to coordinate efficient and timely processing of materials  

  • Build relationships with media and secure pro-active publicity for clients  

  • Serves as administrative support for the group   

  • Conduct media monitoring and analysis and prepare reports for distribution to client(s), as necessary  

  • Develop and maintain media contact lists and databases, updating regularly and mining for new contacts  

  • Draft press releases, pitch letters, etc.; conduct background research and prepare briefing memos/documents for client interviews/media opportunities  

  • Scan daily, weekly, monthly and online publications to identify and flag client-relevant media coverage and contacts, including competitive market and industry information; clip and track placements as necessary  

  • Participate in logistical operations of special events planning and coordination  

  • Provide research data for public relations planning   

  • Perform ad hoc account management tasks as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements
